LuLu’s – Brunch HotSpot

LuLu’s – Brunch HotSpot

Right outside of Boston in Allston is what the Black Bostonian likes to call the “coveted Brunch spot”. While in New York, DC, and other major cities you have your endless mimosa brunches. MA state law forbids such a practice, womp.

Are there any work-arounds this?

Champagne accompanied by the perfect portion sizes for a splash of orange, grapfruit or apple juice.

Don’t fret because the research has already been done for you! At Lulu’s in Allston you can combine classic brunch items like eggs benedict and hearty pancakes paired with bottles of champagne for $30. That’s Right! So two additional friends and you have a bottle of champagne for $10 a pop. Sports rolling in the background Lulu’s proves perfect for all on a Sunday Funday.

Boston Bred.

Boston Bred.

Hold up, do you love wicked good burgers and that green, green, green–asparagus!? Looking to support a locally owned business? Right in the lower mills area of Dorchester, a new Black owned burger spot is exactly that!

Bred is delivering eclectic gourmet sandwiches with a Caribbean and healthy flair. The menu features the Bred Classic, Trill Cheese, and the Marley. Alongside your sandwich, Bred provides great side dishes that range from sweet plantain, fresh asparagus and crispy parmesan truffle fries.

If you’re on the run and need a quick boost, Bred offers a variety of freshly-made fruit smoothies. My top two favorite smoothies on their menu were the Tom Brady (strawberry, banana, raspberry, and coconut blend) and the Mean Green (kale, baby spinach, apple, banana, pineapple juice, and agave blend) . If you’re really on a health kick, you have the option to add whey protein or oatmeal to your smoothie.

If you’re looking for a serving of quality and quantity, Bred has you covered on all your turkey, salmon, grass fed beef and vegetarian options. Below are some pics of my personal favorites, but if you’re in Dorchester check out this new hotspot for yourself!

First Friday’s!

First Friday’s!

Friday night and you just got paid!? First Fridays are classically known for the celebration of that first of the month paycheck, a fresh start at the end of the work week and a good night out on the town! The Seaport District has great dinner and bar options, but the official event “First  Friday’s” at the ICA offers a culmination of food, drinks and entertainment. Scenic views of the city of Boston by the waterfront puts the Institute of Contemporary Art at the top of Boston’s “must visit” list.

Every First Friday, the Institute of Contemporary Art brings in a local DJ, opens up the bar and invites guests in to the galleries. This Friday, the museum featured a 3D snowflake making class, holiday karaoke and a complimentary beer from Octoberfest!

If you love a diverse crowd of working, artsy and international professionals, then you will love the scene at the ICA. Members are free and non-members can join in on the fun for $15.  The ICA is perfect to entertain guests out of town or for date night!
